Residents may notice temporary water discoloration due to upcoming Fire Hydrant Inspections. Inspections are planned between April 17 and June 16.
The water is safe to use during this period, although we advise you to refrain from washing laundry while discoloration is present. Discoloration can be alleviated by running your cold water for several minutes.
Flow and pressure tests are used to ensure fire hydrants are adequate for fire protection. Hydrants are also flushed to remove sediments, for several minutes to hours. The agitated sediments can cause a discoloration of water in your home or business. It may also decrease water pressure temporarily.
If you experience a continued reduction in flow from your faucets, we recommend you clean the screen at the tip of your faucet, since mineral deposits may have accumulated during the flushing period.
